Baguio has been widely
known to be the summer capital of the Philippines due to its high altitude of
approximately 1,610 meters which is good respite especially for those who want
to escape from the scorching heat of the summer season. Being a tropical
country, most of the places in the Philippines experience a hot and dry season
from February to June forcing people to go out of town on weekends and holidays
to have a short escape from the hot and humid temperatures. This is when Baguio
City becomes a popular choice to avoid the summer heat and just chill.
What makes Baguio a favorite
especially for families is that it offers a number of tourist spots where each
and every family member can enjoy and have a great time. Moms and dads can have
some quality time together walking along Burnham Park while the kids can go
boating with rented boats at the man-made lake or play at the Children's Park
and the Orchidarium which are all situated within the park. Another interesting
tourist spot that must not be missed is Mines View where tourists can have a
scenic view of the mountainside. There are lots of things that you can do at
this park. You can take a picture of yourself wearing a traditional Igorot
costume or with a giant St. Bernard, go horseback riding, try out different
types of delicacies or simply shop for various Igorot products. And if you’re
looking for the best “pasalubong” then don’t miss out the purple yam made by
the nuns of the Good Shepherd Sisters.
If you can’t live
without malls then you surely won’t be disappointed because SM City Bagiuo is
just a few minutes away from the city center. What’s interesting about this
mall is that it is the first SM mall which does not use an air conditioning
system. They also feature a number of verandas where one
could have a good view of the whole city. Not too far from the mall is the ever
popular Session Road where all kinds of fun activities can be done such as food
tripping, jamming and shopping.
